Four Year Undergraduate Programs to be implemented

  • The National Education Policy will be implemented in the Delhi University from the next academic session and this shows that the University will shift to a Four-Year Undergraduate Program and M.Phil. course will be scrapped.
  • The structure of the program is similar to the four-year program that was introduced by Delhi University in 2013. The existing undergraduate programs will continue with alterations to structure and nomenclature.
  • The students who opt for the existing honours courses in science, arts and commerce can leave after one year with a certificate, two years with a diploma, three years with honours and four years with honours along with research.
  • Along with the existing courses, in the first three years of honours programs, students will have to complete a language course, an innovation and entrepreneurship course, a social and emotional learning course, an ethics and culture course and co-curricular.
  • Students opting for a four-year honours course with a research option will have to complete a thesis or an internship in their final year. In the fourth year, B.A. and B.Sc. programme students will be allowed to choose one of the two subjects they had studied in the first three years and complete a research dissertation on the Major discipline of study.
  • Students of commerce studies will have to choose one discipline from social science or humanities and study six courses from it during their third and fourth years and write dissertations. The University is also planning to implement one-year and two-year Post-graduate programs.
