However, in 2021, only 4.44 lakh students went abroad. This was informed by the government to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the numbers have increased due to the increase in the number of visas issued by the United States and the United Kingdom to Indian students. A Member of Parliament of congress raised a question in this aspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, the Union Minister of State for Education stated that till November 30, 2022, 6,46,206 Indians went abroad for the purpose of higher education. Moreover, the Bureau of Immigration, Home Ministry, maintains the arrival and departure data of Indians. However, there is no index for identifying the category of Indian students who have been going abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Record of Indian students<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of Indians who have been going abroad for higher education is captured manually. This is done on the basis of verbal disclosure or the type of visa of the destination country that the candidates produce at the time of clearance of immigration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has captured that 4,44,553 Indian students went to abroad for higher education in 2021. The numbers have risen steadily over the years according to the past year. Moreover, the numbers decreased in 2020 due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>2017 &#8211; 4,54,009 students <\/li><li>2018 &#8211; 5,17,998 students<\/li><li>2019 &#8211; 5,86,337 students <\/li><li>2020 &#8211; 2,59,655 students<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Between June and August this year, the United States issued 82,000 student visas. This is the highest among all the countries. In August, the latest UK immigration statistics were released. It showed that the largest share of study visas was issued by the country to Indian students. Moreover, this number has overtaken China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are attracted to abroad due to the <strong>best study abroad programs <\/strong>offered by them.
