Good news for students appearing in HSHSLC exams in Assam

Due to the sensitive COVID-19 scenario, the Government of Assam has announced that for the academic session of 2021, students appearing for metric and higher secondary exams can appear for three exam papers only. The news was delivered by the Education Minister of Assam, Ranoj Pegu to the media. Addressing the matter, the minister also disclosed that further decisions regarding the schedule and conduction of the exams will be taken by the Assam Health and Family Welfare Department within 15 days from the approval to carry out the exams.

Earlier, students had to appear for six subjects in the metric/ High School Leaving Certification (HSLC) exams. For Higher Secondary (HS) exams students had to appear in five subjects in their respective Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. But this year due to the pandemic, students can opt to appear for any of the three papers of their choice to be able to pass the respective exams. Students also have to clear all papers to qualify. 

The Education Minister of Assam has urged the 4,26,508 candidates and 2,49,812 candidates appearing for this year’s HSLS and HS examinations respectively to be prepared for the exams as they will be promptly conducted as soon as the Assam Government gives the order.
