The Centre and State Governments has not permitted the reopening of schools even with the receding cases of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is because there is a prediction of the third wave of this crisis. However, many students and parents’ organization want the schools to be opened.
The All-India Parents Association claims that the closure of schools for a longer period has paved the way to social evils and other abuses. They also claim that when all other economic activities have resumed, the government must also open schools with immediate effect with a 50 per cent occupancy.
However, more than 70 per cent of parents from the general public do not want to send their wards to school until the situation is completely under control. The parents have instead demanded the Delhi Government to start online classes where the teachers will interact with the students in live sessions rather than sending recorded videos.
The Delhi Government feels that the students had a massive loss in their studies and this year they would work to bridge the gap and also support the students emotionally. Some states are planning in opening the schools from July but the Union Education Ministry has urged caution as the safety of the students is the utmost necessity.
